Why KNS is the easiest section to master — if you prepare right
KNS tests your knowledge of Dutch society — geography, history, government, values, healthcare, education, work and daily life. It sounds broad, and candidates often assume it means open-ended studying with no clear finish line. It doesn't: you answer 30 questions in 30 minutes, each with just 2 answer options, some with a reference photo, and pass mark is 21 out of 30 (70%).
What most preparation guides don't tell you: the entire question pool is fixed and public — exactly 102 questions, no more. Your 30 exam questions are drawn at random from that same list — nothing outside it. This means you can learn every single question that could appear, in advance, and walk in with genuinely no surprises left on exam day.
The key skill isn't memorising facts about the Netherlands in general — it's recognising these 102 specific questions and their correct answers on sight. The examples below show you exactly what that looks like, with audio on every question so you can hear the correct pronunciation too.

How to study the KNS pool
Because the pool is fixed and small, the most effective approach is repetition-based, not deep study: go through all 102 in order once to see the range of topics, then use spaced repetition on the ones you get wrong. Most candidates find they can comfortably learn the full pool in 1-2 weeks of short daily sessions, well within the overall 2-4 month exam preparation window.
Three ways to practise — Study, Practice, Exam mode
MVV Klaar isn't just a flat question list. Every section, including KNS, has three distinct modes:
- 📖 Study mode — see answers as you go, ideal for a first pass through unfamiliar questions
- ✏️ Practice mode — answer first, then check, for testing what you've actually retained
- 🎯 Exam mode — timed and scored, just like the real thing, so exam-day format isn't a surprise either
Questions shown in your language
Every question includes an English translation alongside the original Dutch — visible above for all 20 examples. In the actual app, this extends to 29 languages, including Arabic, Turkish, Hindi, Tagalog, Portuguese, Farsi, Urdu, Somali, and more — so you can learn the Dutch content without needing to already read Dutch fluently.
All 102 questions — including audio and translations — are free on MVV Klaar, permanently. No account or payment needed for this section.
